Obituary

Raymond (Ray) Peter Talsma, 84, of North Haledon passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020. He was born March 16, 1935 to Cornelius and Sadie Talsma in Wyckoff, NJ. Ray was a faithful member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder for many years. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp. and Sheet Metal Workers’ Association. He also owned and operated Absolute Filter Screen Cleaning Co., Inc. for over thirty years.

Ray was known to elicit a laugh from all who knew him. His sense of humor and Christian spirit will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Catherine (nee Den Haan) Talsma; son Scott Talsma, daughter Jill Boonstra and her husband Glenn; son Kyle Talsma and his wife Alexandra; six grandchildren, Eric Boonstra; Steffanie Honore and her husband Andrew; Chad Boonstra; Bradley Talsma; Brooke Talsma; and Brennen Talsma. Ray was also a great grandfather to Natalie and Steffen Honore.

The family will receive family and friends at the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road Franklin Lakes, NJ on Sunday February 9th from 2-4 PM. A service will follow after visitation at 4:00 PM. A private interment will be held at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Donations may be made in Ray’s memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Ave., North Haledon, New Jersey.

The saints do not say "Goodbye" the way others do. While "Goodbye" means "God be with you", we say "God be with you Ray till we meet again." Ray lived in the presence of God, under His authority, and for His glory. We entrust Ray to God's eternal care. Tuck and Anne Blom
