Obituary for Walter J Van Dyke
VAN DYKE, Walter J. – 79, of Wyckoff passed away peacefully to be with his faithful Lord and Savior on October 9, 2019.
Born in Wallington he has lived in Wyckoff for the past 48 years.
Walter received his Bachelor’s Degree as a Mechanical Engineer and was Director of Contract Design with Foster Wheeler Corporation in Clinton, NJ. After a 43-year career with Foster Wheeler, Walter retired. He continued to consult with Foster Wheeler customers and vendors for several years subsequent to his retirement.
Walter was a very active member and Elder at Abundant Life Reformed Church in Wyckoff where he was a member of the choir and was Chairman of the Endowment Committee. Up until his passing, he served as President of the Midland Park Senior Crusaders. Walter was an avid golfer and loved cruising and traveled extensively.
Beloved husband of Gertrude “Trudy” (nee Hazekamp) Van Dyke of Wyckoff.
Devoted father of Cheryl Rozema and her husband Barry of North Haledon, NJ.
and Sharon Verney and her husband John of Sparta, NJ.
Loving grandfather of Justin and Jessica Rozema and Kaitlyn and Christopher Verney.
Dear brother of Terese J. Hensel of Millsboro, DE.
Walter is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11 am at Abundant Life Reformed Church, 475 Lafayette Avenue, Wyckoff.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Walter’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
