Obituary for Virginia Smith (Pratz)
SMITH, Virginia (Pratz), age 91, of Goshen, NY, formerly of Franklin Lakes, NJ passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023. Virginia was born in Brooklyn, NY to Leonard and Jean (Scott) Pratz. She married Ralph Smith in 1959. Together they raised two children, Wayne and Janet.. Virginia cherished her role as a faithful and dedicated wife and mother. When Ralph passed away in 1985, she found great comfort and fellowship in her beloved Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church. It was at church where she later met and wed Fred Taylor, with whom she enjoyed many years of marriage before he predeceased her. She was a long-time dedicated member of the Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church, and she treasured her church family immensely.
Virginia was a devoted and loving mother to Wayne Smith and his wife Marilyn, and Janet Erickson and her husband Andrew. She was a cherished grandmother to Carole, Amanda, James, Emma, Braden, and the late Craig who preceded her to Heaven in 2004. She was also predeceased by her siblings Jean Pratz, Leonard Pratz, and Ruth Morris.
Family and friends may visit the Smith family on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4-6:30 PM with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 6:30 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Interment will be Friday, March 10, 2023, at 12 PM at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
