Obituary for Vincent Kender

Vincent Kender, age 81, of Paterson passed on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Vincent was born in Paterson and has lived there his whole life. He owned Colonial Sweet shop, the Cookoo Nest in Paterson prior to his retirement from Passaic County Mosquito Control. He served his country in the United States Army. Vincent was a parishioner of St. Gerard Majella RC Church in Paterson.Vinny enjoyed time with his family, his dogs in his life, crabbing with the boys, time spent outside placing mulch, trimming trees, his coy fish pond, and mowing his lawn, but hated to pull weeds. He was a life long fan of the Mets and the Chicago bears. Vinny was a member of the Elks Lodge 2111 for over 40 years, member of the Franklin Club of Paterson, and the Italian Circle Club of Paterson. His holiday favorite was serving lobster tails and fried shrimp. Vinny was surrounded by lifetime friends, and you always knew where Vinny was by his license plate - VAK 39.

“ you think it’s easy” was the phrase he always reminded us of.

Vinny is survived by his beloved wife Ann Kender. Loving father of Deb Marinco and her husband Ken, John Kender and his wife Marlen, Dawn (Kappock)Hemsey, Kim Dakake and husband Bobby, and his bonus daughter and son, Shean Nunez and husband Joey, Danny Stevens and wife Cristina, predeceased by James Staples. He was gifted with 12 Grandchildren, Richie Knolmayer, Jon and wife Laura Kappock, John Jr and wife Kimberly Kender, Meagan Kappock, Dustin Knolmayer, Breanna and finance Mike Guerriero, James and wife Rosie Kender, Steven Kappock and wife Kristen, Jayda and Julian Nunez, Lucus and Liam Stevens, 2 Great-Grandchildren Myla and Liana Kender. Beloved brother of Barbara Richter and husband Peter. Beloved Uncle of Robyn and Chrissy, great-nephews Tony, Mathew and Michael. In-laws of Maggie Munks and John Munks.
