JACOBS, Sydney (Nee Benjamin), talented NJ Interior Designer passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Sydney graduated from Eastside High School in Paterson and won a full scholarship to Art School by winning an essay contest. Besides her talent for design, she was also an artist. During WW II, she worked the night shift in an airplane parts factory drawing political cartoons. Sydney’s true love was her husband, Maurice Jacobs, who she married at the age of 18 in Kansas. Maurice a first sergeant , fought in the European Theater for four years and they were reunited after the war. Sydney worked as an interior designer for Greenbaum Interiors for 60 years retiring at the age of 90. She was admired by both her co-workers and her many clients for the beautiful rooms she created. Besides design, Sydney enjoyed knitting, shopping, playing Bingo and spending time with family

Beloved wife of the late Maurice Jacobs (2000). She leaves behind her beloved daughter Patricia Mortola and her husband Paul of Franklin Lakes; her cherished grandchildren Amanda Krakowiak and husband Robert, Adam Mortola and wife Nicole; her much loved great grandchildren, Alex and Olivia Krakowiak and Evan and Camille Mortola. She is survived by her devoted sister Rita Gavzy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Service at the funeral home Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ
