Obituary for Salvatore "Sam" Guido

GUIDO, Salvatore “Sam” J., age 81, of North Haledon, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. He was born in Paterson to Sam and Ida Guido on July 11, 1940. He was formerly of Haledon, and he has been a resident of North Haledon for the past 50 years. It was here that he raised his family with his beloved wife Gale (Bentley). Sam was the owner of Guido & Sons Paving Contractors in North Haledon. He also hauled for Tilcon and Stone Industries. He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. Sam was a member of the Elks Club and was an avid truck and classic car enthusiast. But above all his hobbies, talents, and interests, the greatest love of his life could be expressed in one word. Family. His greatest passion was spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.

Sam leaves behind his loving wife Gale. They cherished 59 years of loving and loyal marriage together. Devoted father to Gina Schillaci and her husband Nicholas of Mahwah, Sam Guido and his wife Amy of North Haledon, and Nicole Adoni and her husband Michael of Mahwah. Beloved grandfather to Ryan, Daniella, Eric, Brittney, Ashley, Andrew, Sammy, and Bentley. He also leaves behind his loving sister Geri Cattelona and beloved brother Fred Guido. Salvatore was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Giroud.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 4 – 8 PM at the Vander Plaat -Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
