PHELPS, Ruth Elizabeth (nee Gorton) 80, of Manchester, NJ passed away on April 13, 2021. Born in Paterson to Lawrence and Ruth (nee Reed) Gorton, and formerly of Long Branch, she has been a resident of Manchester for 20 years. Ruth was a travel agent with AAA Travel Agency in Brick Township before her retirement in 2016. Ruth was a Eucharistic Minister at St. John’s RC Church in Lakewood. Ruth loved to travel. Cruises were a particular favorite of hers. She was active in the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary at St. John’s in Lakewood, and in the Steven’s Ministry.
Ruth is survived by her loving sisters, Gloria Prokap and her husband John of Barnegat, NJ, and Lorraine Schroers of North Haledon. She was pre-deceased by her sister Barbara Wahab. Beloved aunt to John and Gordon Prokap, and Mary, Christine, Susan, Lisa, and Aimee Wahab. Also survived by multiple great niece's and nephews.
Friends and family may visit on Sunday, April 18 from 2-5 PM. Funeral mass on Monday, April 19 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff.
