Obituary for Rosario Lobosco

Rosario “Roy” Joseph Lobosco, 81, passed away on December 27th surrounded by his family.

Roy is welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Michael and Clotilda Lobosco. He is survived by his loving wife Lyn and brother Gennaro and his wife Diana. His three children David and his wife Amanda, Mark and his wife Caitlin, Lauren and her husband Chris, and eight grandchildren.

His parents immigrated from Italy in the 1930s and settled in Paterson, NJ where Roy was born and raised. Their house on McBride Avenue became the heart of Lobosco activities where so many wonderful memories were made. The family business was recycling, but most suspected it was an Italian restaurant given the wonderful meals being served for everyone to enjoy.

Roy was a modern-day renaissance man. His career started as an electrical engineer before transitioning to Wall Street where he spent 20 years as a successful municipal bond salesman, eventually owning his own firm. At the age of 50, when many of his peers were thinking of retirement, Roy decided he had one last “career” in him and enrolled at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He received a Master’s in Architecture and took such pride in being the oldest to graduate in his class. For the next 30 years, Roy built homes and developed commercial properties all across New Jersey. His sharp business acumen was complimented by a love for the arts. He painted, he played the accordion, he was an exceptional cook, and he traveled the world soaking in the history and culture of the places he visited.

Most importantly, Roy’s greatest joy in life was his family. For 51 years, Lyn, or “Babe” as he affectionately called her, was by his side. Their partnership will forever be the gold standard of marriage in our family. When it came to the children or grandchildren there was no airport run too early, no transatlantic flight too long, no soccer match too far...there was nothing more important to Roy than his family.
