Obituary for Roger W Veenstra

VEENSTRA, Roger W. – 86, of North Haledon passed away on August 15, 2018. Born in Paterson, he lived in Hawthorne before moving to North Haledon 2 years ago. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and prior to his retirement in 1990 he was a History and Political Science Teacher at the Eastern Christian High School. He was a loyal member of Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prospect Park where he served as an Elder of the Church. Roger loved being with his family, fishing, golfing and traveling.

Beloved husband of 60 years of Carolyn (Van Til) Veenstra of North Haledon. Devoted father of Susan Vanden Brink and her husband Lloyd of Michigan, Sandra Brauning and her husband Stephen of the Dominican Republic, Randall Veenstra and his wife Lynn of North Haledon, Rodney Veenstra and his wife Margaret of Virginia and Luanne Goslinga and her husband David of Iowa. Loving grandfather of 18 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 4. Dear brother of Sue Ann Dyk of North Haledon and the late William Veenstra.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday from 2-5 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral Service Monday 11 am at Unity Christian Reformed Church 339 North 11th Street Prospect Park. Interment Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Roger’s memory to Resonate Global Missions, 1700 28th Street S E , Grand Rapids, MI 49508-1407.
