FOUSSE, Robert, 90, on March 23, 2020, and Noel Fern Fousse (nee Kupfrian) 87, on April 9, 2020, both of North Haledon. Robert and Noel met in 1949 and married on July 5, 1952. Robert was a tool and die maker with Lorraine Tool and Die in North Haledon.

Robert and Noel are survived by their five children, Michael Fousse from Lebanon, TN, Timothy and his wife Maria Fousse of Cibolo, TX, Lauren Brobeck and her partner Raymond Taylor from Hawthorne, NJ, Elizabeth Conklin from Somerset, NJ, and Patrick and his wife Pamela Fousse of Beaufort, SC. They also leave behind 10 beloved grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and Germaine Puglisi, Robert’s sister. They were predeceased in death by their parents, Robert’s younger sister Marie, and their grandson, Justin.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951 – 1953 as a Linguistics Translator. Robert served his community in many ways. He served as a troop leader for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Passaic County, and was also a Silver Beaver recipient. He volunteered as an EMT from 2000-2013 and was recognized by the state of NJ as the oldest person to become an EMT. He was given the Valor Award by St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2004 for saving a life. He was also a town councilman for North Haledon, served on the Board of Education, the Republicans Club, the Advisory Council of Wayne General Hospital, President of the North Jersey Football Association, President and Chief of Haledon Ambulance Corp, volunteer Fire Fighter for Company 1, Haledon, and the Lions Club. Noel will be remembered as a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, taking care of the home, children, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

The family will celebrate the lives of Robert and Noel, receiving friends and family on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 5-8 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. A wake service will be held at 6:30PM on Friday. Interment and military honors will be on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, 22-21 Maple Avenue, Fair Lawn, NJ.
