Obituary for Peter G Balazsy

HALEDON, NJ – Peter G Balazsy, 80, died in the early hours of October 9, 2022 under the kind and caring care of the nurses and doctors at Hackensack University Hospital. He was born on April 4th, 1942 in New Brunswick N.J., the son of Joseph Balazsy and Gertrude Balazsy (nee Peters).
Peter proudly served with the U.S. Army Signal Corp from December 1962 to December 1965; part of that time he was deployed in Thailand. His time in the Army taught him skills that would enable him to enter into the new world of computers at a high level. He was first married to Margaret Downard and fathered his 2 daughters, Peggi Ayn and Patricia Marie. He also adopted Margaret’s daughter Pamela Anderson. His second union to Helen Muniak did not produce any offspring.
Peter had 2 avocations, art photography where he became well known for his image transfer art, and antique radio restoration, where he created working pieces of art from what many people would have thrown away.
Peter’s unique personality ensured he had many acquaintances, friends and family who will remember his motto “I am always right. I thought I was wrong one time, but I made a mistake”. He was curious, intellegent and tenacious, often asking “Why?”
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, adopted daughter and his brother Joseph Balazsy.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggi Ayn Balazsy and Patty Chong-Yen, his brother Joe’s wife Kitty Balazsy and their children, Michael Balazsy, David Balazsy, Joe Jr. Balazsy. and Elizabeth Clark (nee Balazsy), and his sister, Judi Barr, her husband Kerry as well as their children, Kenny Barr, Jeffery Barr and Michael Barr, and they will never forget him.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2-4 PM and Friday, October 14, 2022, from 9-10:30 AM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
