KERRIGAN, Patrick J., age 89 of Franklin Lakes, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Patrick and Anne (Gibbons) Kerrigan. A son of Irish immigrants, he was proud of his heritage. Patrick graduated from St. John’s University, where he was the captain of the baseball team for two years, and then proudly served two years in the US Army. Patrick later worked for Coca Cola before joining the New York Life Insurance Company where he worked as a managing partner until his retirement in 1999.
Patrick shared 66 years of a loving and loyal marriage with the love of his life, Doris Finnegan. They were blessed with five children. Patrick loved spending time coaching their sports teams throughout their youth. He was a lifelong sports fan and enjoyed playing golf in his retirement. Patrick was especially fond of Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks, where countless happy memories were made over decades of summers spent at the family lake house. Patrick was a devout Catholic, a man of faith. His family were long-time parishioners of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Franklin Lakes.
He is survived by his beloved wife Doris and his loving children: Patrick and wife Lisa, Michael and wife Patricia, Marie Jarboe, Anne O’Reilly and husband Brian, and Kathryn A’Hearn and husband Christopher. Patrick also leaves behind a loving and growing family of 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Family was Patrick’s greatest passion, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by Patrick & Anne Kerrigan, Mary & Gene Leyden, James & Helen Finnegan, James Finnegan Jr., Carole Finnegan O’Donnell, and Paul Jarboe.
Family and friends may visit the Kerrigan family on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral mass to be held on Saturday, December 10 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help RC Church, 25 Purdue Avenue, Oakland, NJ. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
