Obituary for Patricia N Trommelen (Sonderfan)

Patricia Nella Trommelen (née Sonderfan) went on to be with Our Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2023.. Patricia was an exemplary Child of God; inspiring all that knew her to follow Christ and exhibit grace.

Patricia was born December 7, 1942 to Gertrude and John Sonderfan in Fair Lawn, NJ. Born in Fair Lawn, Patricia moved to Pompano Beach FL with her parents as a young teen. After moving back to New Jersey she met and married Mr. Ronald M. Trommelen who passed away on October 21,1994; able to celebrate 29 years of marriage together and blessed with two children; James Trommelen and MaryBeth Trommelen. Along with their spouses, Tammy Trommelen and Anthony Collins; Patricia was overjoyed to be blessed with three wonderful Granddaughters, Saskia Trommelen, Ella Collins and Anika Trommelen.

Patricia was a member of The Christian Reformed Church of Midland Park, and a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church as a whole where she joyfully praised the Lord with her voice in song. She served as Church Secretary for St. Leon’s Armenian Church in Fair Lawn, NJ for many years. In addition to being a loving mother, Patricia was active in the Prospect Park Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Church Ladies’ Aid, serving lunches at Eastern Christian Schools. More recently Patricia was active in Ruth Circle and Senior Crusaders at MPCRC, enjoyed crocheting and interacting with the youth groups from church when able. Her latter-life residence was spent at Hillcrest Manor and Heritage Manor at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff, NJ where she continued to touch lives with her Christian witness and kind hearted love for all.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents Gertrude and John Sonderfan, brother Andrew Sonderfan and joins them in Heaven. She is survived by siblings Richard Sonderfan and Susan Schuyler.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to VanderPlaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Family and friends may visit the Trommelen family on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Patricia's memory to the New Jersey Firemens Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005
