Obituary for Olivia Grace Sybesma

SYBESMA, Olivia Grace, age 19, of Mahwah, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Born in Ridgewood, she grew up in Mahwah, and was a graduate of Mahwah High School where she participated in the marching band. She loved all sports, but particularly she enjoyed the game of basketball, and participated on their high school team. She had such a passion for helping people, with a goal in mind of becoming a nurse someday. But her greatest passion was the love of her life, her daughter Layla Rose. She lovingly poured all her time and guidance into raising Layla. Aside from Olivia’s many talents and hobbies, her greatest passion was for her family, particularly her sweet little girl.

Olivia is survived by the love of her life, her one-year-old daughter, Layla Rose, her loving parents, Marlaina (Schibelli) Sybesma, and Robert Sybesma, and her siblings Kimberly Beideman and her husband Russell, Nicole Bartlom and her husband Timothy, Richie Collins and his wife Jessica, Charles Sybesma, Caitlyn Collins, and Nicholas Collins. Beloved aunt to Owen and Liam. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Charles and Judy Sybesma, and was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Lucille Alves and John Schibelli. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Fiancé of Shawn Hoover.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 3-8 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 10 AM at Rockpoint Community Church, 400 North Haledon Avenue, North Haledon, NJ. Entombment to follow at Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah.
