Obituary for Mihir Sen

Sen, Mihir, age 83 of Oakland, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Mihir was born in Madhupur, India and came to live in the U.S. in 1971 where he settled in Brooklyn and Staten Island. In 1985 he moved to Waldwick, NJ. He has since lived in Mahwah, finally settling in Oakland with his family since 1999. Mihir was an accountant by training with a Chartered Accountant qualification from India and obtained an MBA in the U.S.. Before his retirement in 1999, Mihir was an executive and partner with Funk and Wagnalls Corporation in New York and Mahwah.

Beloved husband of Amala Sen (Bose) of Oakland. They enjoyed 58 years of loving and loyal marriage together. Loving father of Apratim “Robby” Sen and Aparup “Bobby” Sen, and loving father-in-law of Bobby’s wife Ushashi “Kiku”. Adoring grandfather of Roshan Sen.

Mihir was also very involved with, supportive of and beloved by his extended family and community. That includes being President of Cultural Association of Bengal and a major supporter of the Street Children of India charitable organization.

Family and friends may visit the Sen family on Saturday, February 4, from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral and religious service will be held during visitation starting before 11 AM. Cremation to follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
