Obituary for Mary Luisi (Cannata)

Luisi, Mary J. (Cannata), 94 on April 18, 2020 of Wayne, NJ. Born in San Antonio Texas she settled in Paterson as a child and married her beloved husband Will where she lived on 27th street until moving to Wayne 20 years ago. Before her retirement she was a seamstress for Manhattan Shirt on River St. and eventually Lady Manhattan where she produced “First” pre-production apparel for modeling in NYC. Mary was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley RC Church in Wayne. She was a lover of dolls, especially angels, and enjoyed sewing, shopping, reading, and watching soap operas, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. One of her favorite past times was playing UNO with her siblings; and laughing of course.
Mary was the devoted wife of the late William M. Luisi who she lost at the early age of 54 in 1979 but stayed true until the end and will now be reunited and interred together at last. Beloved mother of Willian D. Luisi and his wife Leonie of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Yolanda Battaglia and her husband Joseph of North Haledon. Loving grandmother to Dana, Christopher, Jennifer, William and Salvator. Great grandmother of Giovanna, Cristiano, Ava, Andrew and Alex. Also survived by her sisters Edith Amerante and Angel Mendillo.
Arrangements by the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all services will be held privately by the family. Any future services will be posted at a later date.
