Obituary for Marie S. Macioci (Schweighofer)

On Saturday January 5, 2019, Marie (Schweighofer) Macioci, of North Haledon, NJ, passed away at the age of 90.
Marie was born May 5, 1928 in Paterson, New Jersey to Geo and Amelia Schweighofer of Austria and Germany.
Marie had a long and storied career in banking that lasted for more than 40 years. She retired as an assistant vice president from Chemical Bank (now Chase) in 1990. She then returned to banking with Atlantic Stewardship Bank as Community Reinvestment Act Coordinator and that is where she became involved with Paterson Habitat for Humanity. Marie served on the Paterson Habitat Board of Directors, The Habitat Partnering Committee, and as Habitat’s Family Services Volunteer. She worked closely with many families providing mortgage and financial planning assistance. Marie has also been a past volunteer with the North Jersey Developmental Center’s “People Who Need People” project, Eva’s Village in Paterson, NJ, and was an active member of St. Paul’s RC Church in Prospect Park, NJ.

Marie traveled extensively all over the world with her husband, sister and friends. She loved Tai Chi, Mahjong, board games, tennis, hiking and spending quality time with her family and friends which usually consisted of a great meal, spirited debates, and lots of coffee, (or wine).

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Macioci, her sister Louise Schweighofer, and her Sister-In-Law Ermina (Mina) Macioci. She is survived by her Brother and Sister-In-Law Aldo & Anne Macioci and their children Stephen Macioci, and Lisa Martinez and her husband
Ryan. Her niece Joanna LoPiccolo and nephew Joseph LoPiccolo and his wife Grace. Her Brother-In-Law Lino Macioci and his wife Rena, and her Sister-In-Laws; Milena (Frate) Macioci and Rosetta (Morelli) Macioci.

The family will greet friends from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Funeral Home 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 9:30am at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park, NJ 07508. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ.
