Obituary for Lorraine Harburg (Christ)

HARBURG, Lorraine (nee Christ) - 83, of Franklin Lakes passed away on October 4, 2018. Born in New York City, she lived in Manhattan for the first 10 years of her life before moving to Brooklyn. She then lived in Staten Island moving to Franklin Lakes 20 years ago to take care of her granddaughter. She served her country honorable in the United States Marine Reserves during the Korean War and prior to her retirement in 1958 she was a Secretary for the Equitable Insurance Company in New York City. She then worked as an Assistant Manager in the paint department for Majors Department Store in Staten Island. From 1976-1996 she worked as a Senior Clerk for the Staten Island Development Center for the City Of New York. A parishioner of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Ramsey and a member of the Franklin Lakes Seniors, Lorraine loved music of all sorts but especially “Country Music” attending many concerts, she also loved to travel.

Devoted mother of Dr. Denise Harburg-Johnson and her husband Arthur Johnson of Franklin Lakes and Eric Harburg and his wife Nancy of Staten Island.
Loving grandmother of Juliana Johnson and Hans Harburg.
Dear sister of George Christ, Arlene Mercardo, Carol Caruso and the late James Christ.
Lorraine is also survived by her loving companion for the past 22 years, Vincent De Sio

The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral Services Wednesday 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Ramsey.
Interment The Cemetery of the Resurrection, Staten Island, NY.
