Obituary for Lois Veenstra (Dapp)
VEENSTRA, Lois Marilyn (nee Dapp) age 92, of North Haledon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Paterson and raised in Fair Lawn, she resided in Haledon after marriage where she raised her family before moving to North Haledon in 2017. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard Veenstra in 2000. Lois was a long time and faithful member of Faith Community Christian Reformed Church where she played the organ for over 70 years! Lois also gave piano lessons in her home to hundreds of students over the years.
Beloved mother of Randall and his wife Debra of Green Pond, Douglas and his wife Patricia of North Haledon and Barry and his wife Debra, also of North Haledon. Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Ronald Dapp earlier this year and leaves behind her loving sister-in-law Elaine Dapp as well as her brother-in- law Mike Veenstra and his wife Ruth.
Love of God, family and music were Lois’s passions in life. Her love of God extended to neighbors who were the recipients of many home cooked meals and goodies in their times of need. She cared deeply about others and did not miss an opportunity to lift someone’s spirits with a card, phone call or by playing their favorite hymn in a church service. Lois, “Gram”, to many, showered her family with love and was known as a woman of strong faith always reminding them that God is good and a God of great blessing. She lived a life of faith, hope and love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois’ memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Ave, North Haledon, NJ 07508 or the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508.
