Lois Bridge (VanEeuwen)

Lifelong resident of the borough of Prospect Park, Lois is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Joe Bridge. Beloved mother of Heather (Sean), Sara, and Melissa. Devoted Grandmother to Madison, Elizabeth, Samantha and Jack. Greatly loved and missed by her cats, Boots and Raisin. Lois is also survived by her brothers James and Peter VanEeuwen. She was proceeded in death by her parents Marinus and Betty VanEeuwen.

A charitable supporter of her community and church. An advocate of public education where she served on the Prospect Park School #1 Board of Education for 27 years and a lifelong member of The Republican Club. In giving back to her community, Lois worked as an election official at the local voting stations, was the secretary for the Board of Health and annual supporter of the Prospect Park Police and Fire Departments as well as The New Hope Ministries.

Lois spent her Summers in Ocean Grove where she enjoyed sitting on the front porch talking to neighbors or anyone who passed by and attending church services at The Boardwalk Pavillion. One of her favorite traditions was attending the annual Choir Festival at The Great Auditorium. Her favorite holiday was the 4th July where she dressed her entire family and close friends in matching t-shirts to watch the local parade with a great barbecue that followed. She passed The Grove's Christian traditions to her children and grandchildren who continue to spend memorable summers down the shore.

Lois had a 50 year tradition of playing cards with her best friends every Thursday evening enjoying candy, gossip, and laughter. She was a passionate reader of countless books with a particular interest in American history. She was a gifted seamstress who found enjoyment in making her friends and family handmade gifts. Lois loved to cook and host dinner parties for her friends. If ever Lois and Joe had a disagreement, she would remind him that, "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much!"
