STRAUB, John Harold II, a resident of North Haledon for 70 years, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023. He was born in Paterson to J. Harold and Helen (Loftus) Straub. After graduating Manchester High School, he was a 1968 graduate of William Paterson University. In 1969, he started the graduate degree program in physics at Montclair State University, before becoming its founder of the graduate program of physics at Montclair. John was certificated in Science and Mathematics in New Jersey, a member of New Jersey Retired Education Association, the Passaic County Retired Educator Association, and the National Education Association. Before his retirement, he was employed by Passaic County Technical Institute as an educator for 25 years. John was a lifetime member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Paterson, where he was commissioner, ruling elder, trustee, and session member.

John was survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Georgette (Klemchalk) Straub of North Haledon and her sons David and the late Richard. Loving brother of Howard Nicholas Straub of Colorado. He is also survived by three nieces, a nephew, six great-nieces, and two great-nephews. John will be greatly missed by so many whose lives he touched.

Family and friends may visit the Straub family on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4-8 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral service to be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10 AM at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 227 Spring Street, Paterson, NJ. Interment to follow at Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah.
