VAN SAUN, Joanne (nee Tanis), 88 of North Haledon passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. She was formerly of Wayne before moving to North Haledon 7 years ago. Joanne was predeceased by her loving husband of 23 years, John Van Saun in 1977.
Joanne worked as a nurse’s aide at Wiersma’s Nursing Home in Allendale, NJ, Holland Christian Home in North Haledon, NJ, and Ridgewood Nursing Home in Paramus, NJ. She retired in 2004 to enjoy her family. She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Wayne. First and foremost, Joanne was a loving and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loving mother of Robert Van Saun and his wife Nancy of PA, Theodore Van Saun of PA, Cindy Hughes and her husband Donald of Lake Hopatcong, Randall Van Saun and his wife Lorrie of Wayne, Thomas Van Saun and his wife Maria of Westport, MA, Wendy Deppa of Wayne, Susanne Bellofatto of Wayne, Debbie Buchanan and her husband Rory of Ringwood, Debra Van Saun, wife to Richard Van Saun of Sussex, and Daniel Van Saun and his wife Yana of England. She was predeceased by her son Richard Van Saun in 2021, and sons-in-law Thomas Deppa in 2007 and David Bellofatto in 2014. Joanne leaves behind 22 adoring grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Beloved sister of Gertrude Talis of Wayne, and Shirley Warnet of Wyckoff and predeceased siblings Matilda Schipper, Alida Wiersma, Theodore Tanis, and Herman Tanis.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
