Obituary for George Berger

BERGER, George "Ecky"- 96, of Franklin Lakes passed away on February 16, 2019. Born in Frackville, Pennsylvania he has lived in Franklin Lakes for the past 65 years.
He served his country honorably with the “Flying Sergeants” in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Prior to his retirement he was the Physical Education teacher at Franklin Avenue Middle School, Athletic Director and Basketball Coach from 1953-1986. He was also the assistant Basketball Coach at Ramapo High School from 2015-2017. George was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey.

Beloved husband of Lois Berger (nee Reese).
Devoted father of David Berger and his wife Diane and Susan Flemming and her husband Edward.
Loving “Poppy” of Kathryn, Elizabeth, Melissa and Brandon and great-grandfather of Kristian, Patrick, Hannah Rae and George.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 23rd, from 1-4 pm followed by a 4 pm service at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
Private cremation.
