TROOST, Evelyn (nee Schilstra), of North Haledon passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020. She was 88 years old. Born in Saddle Brook, and formerly of Prospect Park, she lived in North Haledon since 1963. Evelyn was a member of Hawthorne Gospel Church for 45 years. She sang in the church choir, as well as the Voices of Praise Choir. Evelyn was a member of the Encore Seniors and Serving Hands at Hawthorne Gospel Church. Evelyn worked as a payroll specialist at International Paper Co. (formerly Union Camp) in Wayne for 24 years.
Devoted mother of Robert Troost of Pennsylvania, Susan La Plante and her husband Thomas of Florida, Sandra Spear of Hewitt, and James Troost and his wife Renee, of Hawthorne. Loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and predeceased by one. Devoted great grandmother of 15. Dear sister of Wilma Bouse, Robert Schilstra, and Lorraine Judd. Predeceased by her husband Robert.
