Obituary for Ellen Bier

In the early hours of Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, our beloved, Ellen Beth Bier passed away after a courageous battle with Ataxia. She was 73 years young, and spent her final moments surrounded by her dear husband, Jeff Bier and the children she loved more than life itself, Randall, Aaron, & Erica. She is also survived by her daughter-in-laws Cara and Lauren Bier, her son-in-law, Anthony Tahan, and the greatest blessings of her life, her five grandchildren, Charles and Maya, Sophie, and Caden and Rory.

Ellen was an exceptional woman; kind, humble, and loving beyond words with a quick wit and great sense of humor. Not only did she shower her own children and grandchildren with endless love and support, but she spent her career working as an English as a Second Language Educator, passionately teaching and advocating for students that needed her most. Ellen was also a creative and talented artist; from painting and drawing to crochet, pottery, needlepoint, sewing, woodworking, and even cooking big meals for her extended family and baking gorgeous custom cakes—there wasn’t an art form that she couldn’t master. We will miss everything about her and will honor her memory for decades to come.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 10am at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Rd, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. Shiva services to follow at the family home. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Ellen's memory to the
National Ataxia Foundation
