GARVEY, Elizabeth (nee Martino) - 90, of Wayne (formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania and Paterson, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 26, 2018, just 2 days before her 91st birthday.

She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years Francis J. Garvey. She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene Garvey De Ritter of Wayne, Karen Antonicello and husband Robert P. of Ridgewood, and her two precious grandsons, Robert L. (wife Leah) of Jersey City, and Michael C. Antonicello of Ridgewood. Also Darlene’s companion, Donald Rafuse of Totowa. Lastly she is survived by countless nieces and nephews.
Also, predeceased by her seven siblings, Joseph (Josephine) Martino, Orlando (Connie) Martino, Mary (Albert) Zazzaro, Virginia (William) Hennion, Thelma (Mitch) De Noble, Florence Roe and Theresa (James) Tacinelli.

During her lifetime, she held numerous accounting positions including accounting clerk at Franklin Bank. However, she would say her greatest accomplishment was helping to raise her two grandsons, Bobby and Michael. She was the former President of the Passaic Valley Elks # 2111 Ladies Auxiliary of Totowa, President of Ladies Harmonie of Totowa and the Past President of the Packanack Lake Seniors Community Association of Wayne.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to her adoptive daughter, Lucy, Elizabeth’s doctors, her caregiver Robin, the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital Wayne and the Oakland Rehabilitation Center.


The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral Services Thursday 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Franklin Lakes.
Interment Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
