Obituary for Eleanor Y Hufnagel (Young)
HUFNAGEL, Eleanor Y. (nee Young)- 94, of Franklin Lakes, NJ and Vero Beach Florida passed away on January 4, 2019. Born and raised in Waldwick, NJ she married William J. Hufnagel and lived there until settling in Franklin Lakes 56 years ago. While in School at Saint Luke’s she was named Miss Ho-Ho-Kus at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall University, where she met her future husband William.
Eleanor was a parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ and Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach, Florida. She was a lady in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Eleanor loved tennis, golf and platform tennis and was a member of The Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, Arcola Country Club, the Vero Beach Country Club and The Moorings Club in Florida. She volunteered for many years at Valley Hospital Auxiliary’s Kurth’s Cottage and was a world traveler visiting over 60 countries.
Beloved wife for 63 years to the late William J. Hufnagel of Franklin Lakes. Devoted mother of Elizabeth O’Brien of North Wales, Pennsylvania, James F. Hufnagel of Franklin Lakes, NJ and Diann Isola and her husband Gregory of Kinnelon, NJ. Loving grandmother of Kelly Ann Drucker, William J. O’Brien, Sara Elizabeth Hufnagel, Emily Rose Hufnagel and Andrew James Isola and Great-grandmother of Michael and Erica Drucker and Catherine, Patrick and Rebecca O’Brien. Dear sister of the late Richard Young, the late Margaret Litcher and the late Mary Kelly
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral Services Wednesday 9:30 am at Vander Plaat- Vermeulen Memorial Home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Franklin Lakes.
