Obituary for Marie Trotta

Edith “Marie” Trotta, 85, passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2022. She was born in Scotland to Arthur and Edith Sullivan in March of 1937. She was a longtime resident of Ridgewood and Ramsey before settling in Franklin Lakes where she resided for the last seven years.

Marie immigrated to the United States on her own when she was only 18 years old, became a citizen, worked as an office manager for many years including running her family's “Cataract Eye Center. She was a reflexologist, advocate for autism awareness and worked as a nanny to a few special children later in her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and eating fine food, watching old movies, listening to opera music and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. Marie was a very strong woman with a kind heart for those she knew and loved. She had a long and full life with many friends and loved ones, many of whom will never forget her bright smile, quick wit, generosity, and the Scottish accent she kept for a lifetime. She will be sorely missed but is now free and at peace.

Marie is survived by her loving and devoted son Nicholas Trotta and his wife Tawnya, her daughter Nicole Rossini and her husband Ralph, and her son Ross Trotta. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Ralph Nicholas, Alexander, and Samantha. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Edith (nee Thompson) Sullivan, sisters, Julianna, Maureen, Patricia, Rosemary, and brother Arthur. Marie is also survived by her sister Kathleen.
