Obituary for Dr. Frank G. Saya, DO
SAYA, Dr. Frank G, 84, on May 26, 2022 of Wanaque went home with the Lord peacefully surrounded by family.
Dr. Saya was born in Brooklyn New York. and had lived and raised his family in North Haledon, NJ where he practiced medicine and served the North Haledon Community for over 40 years. He also acted as school physician for Manchester Regional High School in Haledon, NJ as well as police physician for the North Haledon Police Department. Dr. Saya also looked after and took care of the Salesian Sisters.
After retiring, he moved to Colorado in 2006 until returning to New Jersey a year ago. Frank was a member of the High Mountain Church in North Haledon, NJ.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan (Delillo) Saya who passed away in 1995 and is the beloved husband of Joy (Christensen) Saya. Devoted father of Edward Saya, Monica Phillips, Geralyn Lindberg, Francis Saya, Nicholas Saya and stepfather to Elizabeth Utvik and Stephanie Massie. Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Matilda Mastrandrea.
The family will receive family and friends at the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes on Tuesday 4-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the High Mountain Church, 681 High Mountain Road, North Haledon, NJ on Wednesday 10:00 AM. A private interment will follow at Mary Rest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Frank’s memory to Autism Acceptance Advocacy, 29 Raymond Place, Hawthorne, NJ 07506.
