Obituary for Dorothy H. Marcil (Connell)

MARCIL, Dorothy H. (nee Connell) – 96, of Franklin Lakes passed away peacefully on August 29, 2018. Born in Troy, New York which she proudly called home, she was a graduate of Catholic High School. She lived in Americus, Georgia before moving to Franklin Lakes 51 years ago.
Dorothy was a parishioner and active volunteer of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes.

Dorothy was the wife of the late George B. Marcil. She is survived by four children, George Marcil of Franklin Lakes, David Marcil of Mt. Holly, Denise Marcil of Stamford, CT and Judy Marcil-Joannou of Ashton, Ontario, and grandchildren Claire Marcil, Nicholas Joannou and Andreas Joannou.
Dorothy is pre-deceased by her brothers Thomas and Martin and sister Mary.

Dorothy was loved by all who met her. Her poise, kindness and compassion touched everyone. She was a people person who always made room around her table for another guest. She loved the ocean where her spirit came alive. Her family has happy memories of spending many vacations with her by the sea. She was always up for a new adventure—whether it was a move to a new town for her husband’s career or a walk at the Wyckoff Nature Center. She was the most loving mother to her children.

The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
Funeral Services Wednesday 11:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 12 pm Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church.
Interment Christ the King Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill ssjphila.org or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America afzfdn.org.
