DEBOER, Dorothy “Dot” (Meyer), age 85, of Oakland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Paterson, NJ to Jacob and Sadie (Schaefer) Meyer. After completing high school, Dot married Robert DeBoer. They cherished 64 years of loving and loyal marriage together. Dot embraced her role as a loving and nurturing wife, mother, and homemaker. Dot went on to become an LPN and worked at the Holland Christian Home, Bergen Pines Nursing School, and most recently for 18 years at the office of Dr. Edward Nieuwenhuis of Wyckoff. In her retirement years, Dot enjoyed volunteering her time at the Holland Home, gardening, travelling, and most importantly she loved watching her grandchildren. Above all, her faith in God, and her love of family was the greatest passion in her life. Dot was a member of the Preakness United Reformed Church in Wayne.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert DeBoer. Beloved mother of Robert DeBoer and his wife Christine of South Carolina, and Wendy Gorter and her husband Edwin of Midland Park. Cherished grandmother of Mark, Alison, Eddie, Corinne, Jacob, Brennan, Tracy, and Kimberly. Loving great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren. Dorothy also leaves behind her brother John Meyer and his wife Doris, and her sister Carol Borst and her husband Neil.

Friends and family may visit the DeBoer family on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 4-7 PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral service and interment will be held privately by the family.
