Obituary for Claire Canavan (Organek)

Claire Victoria Organek Canavan passed peacefully into eternal life on January 21, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

The youngest of six children, Claire grew up in Bayonne, NJ. A Bayonne High School graduate, she worked at the Diamond Match Co. in New York City.

She met David Canavan, a first-year medical student, in 1950, and they married in 1951. Their 67-year marriage was blessed by seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

Claire and David lived in Franklin Lakes, NJ for 23 years before moving to Lawrenceville, NJ in 1983, where Claire returned to work at the Hun School of Princeton. They have lived in Randolph, NJ for the past 3 years.

Daughter of Victor and Frances Organek, Claire is survived by her husband David Ignatius Canavan MD, daughter Maureen Card and husband, Ken, of Blairstown, NJ; son David Canavan and wife Nancy, of Charlottesville, VA; son John Canavan and wife, Gail Schroeder Canavan of Wyckoff, NJ; daughter Jeanne Bezerra and husband Boanerges, of Monroe Township, NJ; son Timothy Canavan and wife Judy, of Limekiln, PA; daughter Cecelia LaForge and husband Robert, of Langhorne, PA; daughter Theresa Fell Lyda and husband Chris of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren Timothy Card and wife Patricia, Allison Sabatini and husband Peter, Kathleen Canavan Smithson and husband Matthew, Brian Canavan, Patrick Canavan, Tyler Canavan, Paige Canavan, Braden Canavan, Alexander Bezerra, Jason Bezerra, Emily Bezerra, Margaret LaForge, Sallie Fell, Lucy Fell,
John Schroeder and wife Tara, Scott Schroeder, Kurt Schroeder and Grant Schroeder; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Kolbe, Madelynn, Lydia, Sean, Justus and David Card, Sophie and Harry Sabatini, Nora and Dorian Smithson.
Claire was predeceased by her siblings Walter Organek, Regina Claisse, Jeanne Hanft, Victor Organek, and Cecelia Dullea.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday from 7-9 pm and on Friday from 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 10 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Franklin Lakes.
Interment Christ The King Cemetery.
